Born in Curaรงao but a Quebecer by adoption for over forty-five years, Magda Frederik has been a prominent figure in the beauty industry for over three decades. After an initial career in aviation, coupled with her studies in communication at HEC, Magda was one of the first black flight attendants in Canada, which is an achievement in itself! She worked for several years at Quรฉbecair, where she founded the Association des Artistes de Quรฉbecair to assist Leucan, which was then in its early years. At the time, in the late 1980s, she organized one of the first fundraising events, which allowed her to present a $17,000 check to Dr. Jocelyn Demers.
Following her aviation career, Magda discovered a real passion for aesthetics and cosmetics. After studying and receiving extensive training in the field in Montreal and Italy, she ventured into the world of non-invasive natural skin rejuvenation treatments for the face and body.
A pioneer in the landscape of cosmetic product distribution in Canada among other prominent figures, Magda successfully founded and managed La Maison ISHI at 2122 Crescent Street, a building owned by the Musรฉe des Beaux-Arts de Montrรฉal, for over fifteen years until 2016. During her many years at La Maison ISHI, Magda took advantage of this visibility and foot traffic to help various causes close to her heart: the less fortunate and children. Magda found a way to involve over 300 clients in the “Draw Me a Picture” project to give 300 children from St-Noรซl-Chabanel School a toy in exchange for a drawing. She also created a gala at La Maison ISHI to support Le Chaรฎnon, where each of the 500 guests was required to bring a wrapped dress accompanied by a note for a needy woman.
An accomplished entrepreneur, she launched her new line of cosmetic products, Magda Frederik Cosmรฉtiques Spรฉcifiques, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. These products are manufactured in Italy according to a unique concept, resulting from her collaboration with Davide Antichi, a cosmetic chemist. Magda Frederik’s products also reflect environmental consciousness and strong community engagement. Magda is involved with various organizations and foundations whose mission is to support women in precarious situations. As a speaker and trainer concerned about women’s well-being, Magda is dedicated to helping less fortunate individuals through charitable actions.
Her motto is simple: “I feel good when I do good!”
